JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a PHP Developer, you will be responsible for taking functional specifications and mockups, and implementing them as working code that is tested and deployed.

Some specific responsibilities will include:

Review functional specifications for new features, and collaborate with Lead Developer on your approach to implement the functionality specified, as well as how long you expect it to take.

Implement well-performing, unit-tested code using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX, meeting the specified requirements in the estimated time, following good OOP practices and established company best practices for code structure.

Investigate bug reports and fix problems, both for production and new code; follow established practices for fixing and communicating.

Manage code changes through CVS and submit work for periodic code reviews with Lead Developer.

In addition, you will be a core member of the company’s team, including significant interaction with product development and systems administration, not to mention marketing, sales, operations and other company teams.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

This position will require a broad set of skills and experiences. In summary you must be smart, hard-working, responsible, and have strong development skills using PHP for web application development. You must also be passionate about your work, eager to continue challenging yourself and determined to deliver consistently great results.

Experience and Necessary Skills

Experience with LAMP stack and development on PHP 5 using Zend Framework; experience with REST/SOAP a plus.

Thorough experience and knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks (prototype, jQuery, general AJAX, etc.); the ability to deal with cross-browser issues is a must.

Must have worked on consumer-facing or large-scale end-user facing systems; helpful if they involved e-commerce, community, social media, etc.

Data modeling experience is a plus.

Experience with SVN a plus.

Helpful if experienced with unit-testing and continuous integration systems (PHPUnit, phpUnderControl, etc.).

Your compensation will include a base salary and benefits.

You will be in the office during regular business hours, but this is an aggressive position, and you will be expected to invest significant time in your work, often including morning or evening time. You will also need to be available occasionally for overnight / early morning deployments.

The company is headquartered in SoHo, just south of Houston, and the office is easily accessible by the 1, 6, A/C/E, B/D/F/V and R/W subway lines.
